Whilst public cloud services such as Mozy Pro, Cloud Drive & Office 365 are fantastic for some businesses they may not suit others. For those customers there are other options including traditional on-premise servers, private cloud servers or a hybrid cloud deployment incorporating a public & private cloud with traditional on-premise infrastructure.
As a Microsoft & Symantec Gold Partner, VMware Enterprise Partner and Citrix Silver Partner Consilium have a wealth of experience deploying back end infrastructure solutions for clients throughout Scotland & beyond. As a natural extension to our public cloud & on-premise services we can offer Private Cloud solutions not only hosted at your premises but also from a secure data centre.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PRIVATE & PUBLIC CLOUD SERVICES?
In simple terms public cloud services are hosted externally and made available for multiple companies providing a particular function such as email, backups or internet file hosting. A private cloud offer the same services & more but on infrastructure solely for use by one business to provide a more secure and tailored solution.
CONSILIUM’S PRIVATE CLOUD
Consilium have a fully redundant server infrastructure hosted at Iomart. Originally founded in 1998 as an integrated internet and telecommunications company, Iomart has evolved to become one of Europe’s largest providers of managed hosting, colocation, data centre, and business continuity services, serving over 300, 000 customers each day.
We offer hosted servers, desktops and applications from our fault tolerant IT infrastructure hosted at Iomart; in addition to providing both on-premise and public cloud services.
There are several core offerings that we can private through a private cloud deployment.
VIRTUAL DESKTOPS (VDI)
Where a client does not want to have a traditional on-premise client/server network, has ageing desktop infrastructure or wants to fully mobilise their workforce we can provide virtual desktop PC’s or Citrix XenApp servers to provide a desktop PC environment that is available from any device and from any internet connected location.
These servers can be installed either on-premise or for a monthly rental from our fully fault tolerant data centre infrastructure.
With VDI & Citrix you can get full, rich multimedia access to your applications and data from PC’s (Windows, Mac, Lunux), Tablets and Smartphones.
EMAIL & COLLABORATION
Consilium can provide Office 365 for email and collaboration as part of a hybrid cloud or on-premise deployment. Where a customer wants a completely private cloud solution we can host Microsoft Exchange 2010 & Sharepoint 2010 either within your own premises or within our data centre. For private cloud deployments we also partner with Symantec, Microsoft & Google to offer a range of complementary archiving, security and backup options.
WEB SERVER HOSTING
Consilium can host web servers in IIS or Apache from our own private data centre infrastructure or via public cloud hosting.
FILE SERVICES
Consilium offer a public cloud based alternative via Rackspace Cloud Drive. Again, where Cloud Drive is not suitable we can offer hosted file servers as part of a private cloud deployment.
APPLICATION SERVERS
Consilium’s hosted private cloud servers are available on either VMware of Microsoft Hyper-V. Our server storage is on an HP SAN (Storage Area Network) which facilitates instant failover in the event of a server having an issue. We also replicate our servers to alternate storage to eliminate single points of failure. Consilum can supply Windows & Linux based application servers from our data centre infrastructure
